Az ENSZ ezen a napon tartja a rabszolgakereskedelem és a rabszolgaság eltörlésének emléknapját. 

"Az Úr közel van azokhoz, akik a rabszolgaság régi és új formáinak áldozatai, vagyis az embertelen munkáé, az illegális emberkereskedelemé, a kizsákmányolásé."

Il Signore è vicino a quanti sono vittime di antiche e nuove schiavitù: lavori disumani, traffici illeciti, sfruttamento.

El Señor está cerca de cuantos son víctimas de antiguas y nuevas esclavitudes: trabajos inhumanos, tráficos ilícitos, explotación.

The Lord is close to all those who are victims of old and new forms of slavery: inhuman labour, illegal trafficking and exploitation.
